Iceflake Studios’ sanctuary-building strategy sim Surviving the Aftermath is adding the Nintendo Switch to its list of launch titles when the game comes out of early access early next year. The news comes in the wake of the games early-access availability on PC being switched from an Epic Games exclusive to now also appearing on Steam.
Surviving the Aftermath is a pretty decent colony building sim that blends an over-world strategy map where you can send your survivors off in search of supplies and rewards while juggling the defence of your home base from ne’er-do-wells and wild mutated beasts, all while trying to expand your ramshackle farmstead with enough farms and water to keep things ticking over just a little while longer.
Since releasing on Steam the game has seen a fair share of mixed reviews, which is a shame because the developers seem quite intent on making the most out of the concept by delivering almost monthly updates to the game that revise mechanics or add entirely new ones into it such as questing, further exploration potential and the ability to set survivors as guards helping to maintain the security of your new home.
Surviving the Aftermath is currently available through early access on Epic Games and Steam, although on console you can check this out via Xbox One’s Preview program. The developers seem intent on taking fan’s thoughts and ideas into consideration and have a seemingly never ending list of potential things to add to the game while being organized enough to, steadily and consistently, deliver on those goals.
Should you be in the market for a strategy fix with a focus on colony building, or if you enjoyed sister game Surviving Mars, you might want to check out Surviving the Aftermath now.
